Author Guidelines

Submissions

The Journal of Islamic Guidance and Counseling (JIGC) invites submissions in the form of articles, research reviews, and theoretical analyses related to the field of Islamic counseling. All submitted manuscripts will undergo a selection process by the editorial board. Submissions must meet the following requirements:

  1. The manuscript must contribute to the development of theory and practice in guidance and counseling.
  2. The manuscript must be based on original research or a conceptual study.
  3. Manuscripts should be between 20-25 pages in length, with standard margins, typed in 1.0 line spacing using 12 pt Century Schoolbook font.
  4. The manuscript must adhere to the following structure:
    • Title (maximum 15 words; must be clear and reflect the article’s content).
    • Author’s name (without academic titles).
    • Author’s affiliation.
    • Email address.
    • Abstract (150-250 words) and Keywords.
    • English Abstract and Keywords (for international indexing).
    • Introduction.
    • Methodology
    • Findings and Discussion.
    • Conclusion
    • References
  1. The abstract must be concise and informative, written in English, and between 150–250 words.
  2. Citations must follow the APA (American Psychological Association) Style.
    • Use parenthetical in-text citations (Author’s Last Name, Year, p. Page Number).
    • Example from a book: (Motahhari, 2001, p. 195)
    • Example from an article: (Adlin & Suryolaksono, 2000)
  1. The Reference List must be formatted according to APA style and include only cited works.
    • Example of a book: Jonah, M. (1983). Kamus Arab-Indonesia Besar [Large Arabic-Indonesian Dictionary]. P3A Depag RI.
    • Example of a journal article: Adlin, A., & Suryolaksono, I. (2000). Reduction of human conception: An overview of the era of pramodernism, modernism, and postmodernism. Journal of Psyche, 1(2), 25-26.

 

Submission Steps for Authors

  1. Authors must register online independently via the journal’s website using the “Register” menu. For registration assistance, please contact jigc.dakwah@uinjambi.ac.id.
  2. After registering, authors can submit their manuscript through the submission system. Ensure the submission status is marked as “Active.”
  3. Manuscripts must be prepared using the official JIGC template.
  4. All citations and references must use APA citation style.
  5. Authors must confirm that the manuscript is not currently submitted to or published in any other journal. Submission to other publishers is prohibited until a formal decision or confirmation is received from the JIGC editor (typically within a maximum of 3 weeks after submission and acceptance for review).
  6. Authors must await the editor’s decision (based on the initial screening and reviewer recommendations) within the stipulated timeframe.
  7. Authors are expected to comply with and address the reviewers’ recommendations and the editor’s final decision.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to confirm their submission’s compliance with all of the following items. Submissions that do not adhere to these guidelines will be returned.

  1. The submission has not been previously published nor is it before another journal for consideration.
  2. The manuscript presents original, up-to-date research with a novel concept.
  3. The topic of the manuscript is consistent with the aim and scope of the Journal of Islamic Guidance and Counseling.
  4. The manuscript includes English keywords (a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 5 words).
  5. The manuscript is written and structured according to the JIGC writing guidelines and template.
  6. The references consist of a minimum of 80% primary sources (e.g., journal articles, books) and a maximum of 20% secondary sources.
