Studi Kompetensi Multikulturalisme pada Dosen UIN Jakarta dan UIN Riau
Abstract
Since the early of the 21st century, multiculturalism has become a crucial issue in educational field in Indonesia. This cannot be separated from the rise of social violence's related to ethnic, religion, race and social group. Therefore, it is crucial to know how is the ability of the PTKI (Islamic Higher Educations in Indonesia) responding this issue by looking at their lecturers understanding about multiculturalism. Since the change of IAIN to UIN, some lecturers from science educational background have participated in Islamic studies in Indonesia. This research was done at UIN Riau and UIN Jakarta. The samples are 182 lecturers from both religious and non-religious (science) educational background. This research finds that; First, the level of multicultural consciousness or understanding among lecturers at UIN Riau and UIN Jakarta is relatively good, almost approaching the ideal score, i.e 275. Second, there is different multicultural understanding level between lecturers at UIN Riau and UIN Jakarta, both from religious and non-religious educational background. Third, there is different multicultural ability between religious-based lecturers and non-religious (science or secular) lecturers. Fourth, there is no correlation between multicultural knowledge and skill owned by lecturers and multicultural consciousness they own.
