Abstract

This study aims to explore the dimensions of religious moderation in the Chinese ethnic minority Muslim community in Yogyakarta. This research is a type of field research with a descriptive-analytical qualitative method. The primary data source in this study was the Chairperson of the PITI DPW D.I. Yogyakarta, Hj. Sioe Fen / Hj. Budi to get information about the development of PITI from year to year. Then the Chairperson of PITI Sleman, Mrs. Linda Lestari and Deputy Chairman Mr. Bambang Bergen and one of the members of PITI Mr. Hendrik. The secondary data sources in this study are official organizational documents, scientific articles, books and other writings that are relevant to the focus of the research problem. To ensure the validity of the data, this study used source triangulation techniques and technical triangulation techniques. The analysis used adopts the analysis model of the qualitative analysis model from Miles and Huberman with the procedures taken are through data reduction, data display and conclusion drawwing. The dimension of religious moderation of the Chinese ethnic minority Muslim community in Yogyakarta is illustrated at least through two main points. The first concerns the religious understanding adopted. The second relates to inter-religious harmony. In the dimension of religious understanding, the Chinese Muslim community in Yogyakarta is dominated by the influence of local mass organizations. In this case, the NU and Muhammadiyah organizations are the two most followed organizations. Meanwhile, in social terms, tolerance between religious communities is the key to maintaining harmony in society. Tolerance is manifested in various fields, such as religious and social.
