The surge in extremism and terrorism in Indonesia has been linked to the spread of transnational ideologies. In this context, promoting and internalizing religious moderation among the Indonesian diaspora becomes essential to prevent religiously motivated extremism and terrorism. This article aims to explore the extent to which the socialization and internalization of religious moderation programs have reached the Indonesian diaspora in Türkiye. This qualitative phenomenological study involved eight leaders of Indonesian diaspora organizations across several provinces in Türkiye through observation, interviews, and document analysis. This article found that social interactions between the Indonesian diaspora and foreigners in Türkiye may elevate the risk of exposure to extremist and intolerant views, especially among those living in dormitories with limited religious knowledge. The findings also reveal that religious moderation programs have not yet been implemented within this community. These insights can provide an academic foundation for the Indonesian government to design an inclusive strategy to foster religious moderation among the diaspora. Thus, the Indonesian Ministry of Religious Affairs should enhance cross-institutional collaboration to ensure religious moderation programs reach Indonesians overseas.
