EVALUASI REKONSTRUKSI ATAS Q.S. AL-NISA’ [4]: 34 (STUDI PEMIKIRAN NUR ROFIAH DALAM BUKU MEMECAH KEBISUAN)

Abstract

This research is motivated by Nur Rofiah’s interpretation of the obligation of financial support in al-Nisa’ [4]: 34 as presented in her book Memecah Kebisuan (Breaking the Silence), which is inconsistent with the reality of the implementation of the text and the law according to the majority of scholars. Nur argues that the prevailing obligation regarding men as providers of financial support is merely a legal construct derived from social construction. The research method employed in this article is a critical-analytical method combined with library research to collect all relevant literature related to the issue under study. The data in this study are divided into two types: primary and secondary data. The primary data consist of the material object (the interpretation of al-Nisa’ [4]: 34) derived from the Qur’an and Nur Rofiah’s Memecah Kebisuan, while the formal object (the evaluative-reconstructive theory) is taken from M. Ulinnuha’s Rekonstruksi Metodologi Kritik Tafsir. The findings of this study show that Nur Rofiah’s interpretation of financial responsibility in al-Nisa’ [4]: 34 in Memecah Kebisuan demonstrates a low level of quality, as it is not in line with the provisions of the text, natural law, and the consensus (ijma‘) of scholars. This study also identifies several elements in Nur Rofiah’s interpretation that are inconsistent with the fundamental principles of Qur’anic exegesis that have been agreed upon by the majority of scholars.
