PENGELOLAAN DAN PELESTARIAN SDA: STUDI Q.S. SABA’ [34]: 15-21 PERSPEKTIF TAFSIR AL-NUR

Abstract

This paper aims to examine the interpretation of Surah Saba’ [34]: 15–21 as presented in Tafsir al-Nur by Hasbi Ash-Shiddieqy. The study employs a descriptive-interactive method, in which the data is first presented descriptively and then analyzed interactively to arrive at a comprehensive conclusion. Based on the analysis of Hasbi Ash-Shiddieqy's interpretation, these verses illustrate the condition of the Saba’ tribe, who initially lived in prosperity and abundance of natural resources. They were blessed with a fertile, secure, and peaceful land. However, their prosperity was not accompanied by gratitude to Allah, neither through spiritual obedience nor through the wise management of His blessings. Their negligence in maintaining and appreciating these blessings eventually led to divine punishment in the form of a great flood that destroyed their infrastructure and natural resources. Through his interpretation, Hasbi Ash-Shiddieqy emphasizes the importance of gratitude and the integration of spiritual values in national development. According to him, natural resource management rooted in piety towards Allah will lead to long-term public welfare. Therefore, the conservation and utilization of natural resources must be inseparable from ethical and spiritual values. In this context, these verses provide an essential lesson on the importance of managing God's blessings responsibly and sustainably as a tangible expression of gratitude.
