Abstract

The aim of this research is to examine the Kenali Asam (Jambi) during the
physical revolution. The period of physical revolution is one of the most interesting historical
periods for the Jambi region. Which one and two Dutch military aggressions have tried to
subdue the Jambi region (Kenali Asam). This study uses historical methods or historical
methods. The method used in writing this thesis is the historical research method. Historical
research is research that uses past track records covering five stages. The stages of
historical research are (1) Source Collection or Heuristics, (2) Source Criticism, (3)
Interpretation (4) Writing or Historiography. with exposure. The results of this study ae
during the Dutch military aggression in the Jambi Residency. Kenali Asam as the capital of
Batanghari Regency played an important role as a defense base for the Jambi Residency
area, especially Batang Hari Regency, because at the beginning of independence, Kenali
Asam's status was the capital. In defending the independence of Kenali Asam, the land was
scorched by the Dutch Military Aggression II in 1948. This was the beginning of the
forerunner of the Batang Hari Regency Government to determine a more appropriate capital
for Batang Hari Regency. on March 25, 1947 Dutch Military Aggression I was carried out,
the Jambi area only received an economic blockade. The struggle of the Jambi people (know
Asam) was very persistent with the help of STD, BKR and Para Jihad fisbililah soldiers to
expel the Dutch from the Jambi region.
