Abstrak

This study aims to examine certain meanings philosophically in the tradition of kasai bathing carried out by the people of Linggau Hamlet, and some people who only follow this tradition without knowing what the meaning and purpose of the tradition is. This tradition is a tradition not purely a tradition from the village, but adopted from Palembang, South Sumatra which until now is still maintained by the people of Linggau Hamlet. This research is a type of field research using qualitative methods whose research nature is descriptive. Data collection techniques are carried out by observation, interviews, and documentation, using three data analysis techniques, namely data reduction, data presentation, and verification or conclusions. The results of this study found that the traditional procession of bathing kasai bujang gadis in Linggau Hamlet was carried out by the bride and groom, namely after the completion of the alms event and carried out on the river. The tradition of kasai bathing has a positive meaning and value. This traditional procession is carried out after the alms event is over. And the necessary tools and materials all have their own meanings. This tradition is considered good by the community, because by doing this tradition can help the blessings of the bride's home life. The purpose of this kasai bath tradition is a tradition of cleansing the birth and mind of the bride and groom, so that they are given blessings, kept away from things that are not wanted in marriage.
