Abstract

This article analyzes Alfred Gough and Miles Millar's Wednesday television series using Roland Barthes' semiotic approach. This approach aims to uncover layers of denotative, connotative, and mythical meanings in the visual, dialogue, and narrative elements contained in the series. With a focus on characterization, setting, and symbols that appear. This research explores how messages of cultivation, identity, and rebellion are represented through visual and narrative signs. The findings show that Wednesday not only presents entertainment, but also conveys social criticism through deep modern symbolism and mythology. This study confirms that Barthes' semiotics is a relevant tool for understanding hidden messages in popular media.
