Abstract

This article explores the phenomenon of hyperreality in everyday life, focusing on the gap between fantasy and reality created in the modern digital world and consumption. Using a descriptive qualitative approach, the article analyzes how images and symbols generated by social media, advertising, and cultural trends such as YouTube “unboxing” increasingly dominate our perception of reality. Jean Baudrillard’s perspective on hyperreality is used to explain how representation and simulation replace real experience, creating a world where the meaning of products, social status, and identity are more important than functionality or reality itself. The article aims to show how the concept of hyperreality influences the way we understand ourselves, others, and the world around us, and the challenges faced in navigating between fantasy and reality in modern life.
