It looks into his interpretation of religious ideal that underlie his vision of reform and renewal based on his journal articles and novels that response to the traditional practice and customs of the Malays. In this regard, it analyzed aspects of reform that he developed which included the contested ideas of religious orthodoxy, dogma and rituals, modern Islamic consciousness, independent reasoning and ijtihad, current socio-political condition and its underdevelopment and womens’ empowerment and liberation. The study is qualitative in nature based on library and documentary survey. The finding shows that al-Hadi had left behind modern impression of reform that aspired to bring socio-political and cultural progress in contemporary society and raising awareness of the higher value of Islamic spirituality and its liberal, progressive and dynamic implications for society.
ahmad nabil amir Copyright (c) 2025 Journal of Southeast Asian Islam and Society https://e-journal.lp2m.uinjambi.ac.id/ojp/index.php/JSAIS/article/view/2723 Mon, 30 Dec 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka di SMA Gloria Jaya Jambi https://e-journal.lp2m.uinjambi.ac.id/ojp/index.php/JSAIS/article/view/2884
The Merdeka Curriculum is part of an effort to align Indonesia’s education system

with the needs and developments of the times. One of the implementations of the

Merdeka Curriculum is carried out in schools, including in the Islamic Religious

Education (PAI) subject. As we know, PAI plays a crucial role in shaping the moral

and spiritual character of students. This research aims to analyze the

implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum in PAI at senior high schools. The

primary focus of this research is to see how far these changes can improve teaching

quality, support diverse approaches, and address educational challenges faced by

both teachers and students who are the subjects of this study. The method used in

this research is a qualitative approach with interview and observation techniques

conducted on teachers and students. The research findings indicate significant

changes. These include providing teachers with the flexibility to design and plan

the learning process and methods, incorporating diverse and creative approaches

tailored to students’ needs. The Merdeka Curriculum also provides more space for

students to excel not only in academics but also in other areas. And in this regard, a position from Islam is considered in which neighborly relationships are based on Quranic ethical virtue ihsan i.e., doing good to others. The word neighbor in the Quran and Hadith is a general term that is not discriminatory. It includes Muslims and non-Muslims. This insight is very useful for building relationships in multicultural and multireligious communities for harmony and peace. To locate a neighbor, though there are jurisprudential opinions, leaving it to its customary use is preferred in this study. The neighborhood rights and duties are given in detail. And it is also demonstrated that those prophetic narrations in which harming neighbors or committing sins against them is considered as the consequence of the absence of faith in fact show the disgust of such sinful acts; therefore, a sinful Muslim is not considered as a non-believer. The harm is especially illustrated with infringing the privacy of a neighbor. It has been shown that Ihsan includes ethically both non-maleficence and beneficence. Most of the prophetic traditions can be classified under these two categories. In addition to this, it is also shown that the neighborhood relations in Islam also include the Golden Rule which is all-encompassing and in principle exhaustive.

Keywords: Neighbor, Islam, Golden Rule, Ihsan, beneficence
Mohammad Manzoor Malik Copyright (c) 2024 Journal of Southeast Asian Islam and Society https://e-journal.lp2m.uinjambi.ac.id/ojp/index.php/JSAIS/article/view/976 Mon, 30 Dec 2024 00:00:00 +0000 Kesiapan Guru dalam Implementasi Kurikulum Merdeka di Sekolah Dasar https://e-journal.lp2m.uinjambi.ac.id/ojp/index.php/JSAIS/article/view/2853
Kurikulum Merdeka Belajar adalah divisi dari Kementerian Pendidikan, Kebudayaan, dan Ristek dengan tujuan mengoptimalkan kurikulum yang ada. Through designed and implemented work programs, students can directly apply the knowledge learned in lectures to society. To promote, engage, and succeed in KKN programs, students, lecturers, and the community require communication tools to facilitate every activity agenda. One effective communication medium adaptable to current developments is social media, such as Instagram, Facebook, blogs, YouTube, and Twitter. Social media has become an effective tool in implementing education and community service processes.

Studies on the use of social media in learning at schools and universities have been widely conducted by researchers (e.g., Hudson et al., 2020; Harris, 2020; Kuswardhani, 2020); however, evaluations of social media usage in community service activities remain limited. Therefore, this study aims to explore the use of social media in implementing the 2021 Community Service Program. The ultimate goal of this research is to provide input for communities, lecturers, students, and policymakers in their efforts to enhance the quality of community service programs in the form of KKN. Using semi-structured interviews and observations involving 10 students from three regencies in Jambi Province, this study finds that social media serves three primary functions for students in community service programs: (1) as a medium for positive campaigns; (2) to disseminate information about social movements; and (3) as a tool for accountability and transparency.
Dion Ginanto Copyright (c) 2025 Journal of Southeast Asian Islam and Society https://e-journal.lp2m.uinjambi.ac.id/ojp/index.php/JSAIS/article/view/2883 Mon, 30 Dec 2024 00:00:00 +0000
