Abstract

This research aims to assess the competence of supervisors in fostering the competency of the head of the madrasah that exists in the environment of the Ministry of Religious Affairs in Tanjung Jabung Barat regency. This research uses a qualitative and descriptive-analytical approach. The determination of research subjects using the snowball sampling technique. The result of this study indicates that supervisory and managerial competence in fostering the competency of the head madrasah in the Tanjung Jabung Barat regency could be more optimal due to several matters relating to a lack of commitment to coaching done regularly. Barriers to supervising the competence of the madrasah head in Tanjung Jabung Barat regency include a) the madrasah head's lack of discipline; b) the lack of madrasah head work experience; c) the ratio of supervisors to madrasas is not ideal; d) some supervisors' lack of awareness of their duties in fostering the competency of madrasah heads, e) the lack of complete facilities, and f) the distance is quite far from the office of the ministry of religion in the Barat Tanjung Jabung regency to the location of madrasah built targeted.
